I was out this afternoon so a substitute continued Section 10.2 with the class. I will also be out on Monday and the class may get to 10.3. I will update on here on Tuesday with pages covered, as well as any links and e-copies of handouts.
We finished our Mineralogist's Mystery Lab today! Anyone that missed stations will have an opportunity to finish them at lunch on a day to be determined once all Grade 7 classes have finished this lab.
We will be back in the classroom next day. Make sure you come prepared with your textbook, binder or duotang, and something to write with. Back in the Lab! We should finish this up during Monday's class.

7C attended a Bullying session today during our class time.
We will be back in the lab on Thursday to continue the Mineralogist Mystery Lab. Students completed the Minerals booklet (see attachment below) and we corrected together. Students also received the summary handout on 10.2 (see attached below) and we read page 326-327 together.

I started with a homework check from yesterday's homework assignment. Only about 1/2 had it with them!!! :( We reviewed the properties of minerals that we learned about yesterday by watching this catchy youtube parody of Party Rock: We went through this slideshow of the properties of minerals (students received a copy of the slides):
Tomorrow we will be beginning the Mineralogist's Mystery Lab. I went over the safety procedures required for this lab. Reminder that students should be wearing closed toe shoes!
Today we discussed the properties of minerals. We started out with this video clip of identifying minerals (see below). Students received a page of summary notes for properties of minerals. We read and discussed pages 318-319. For homework: Finish reading pages 320-321 and complete questions questions #1-4 on page 321. Today we looked at a variety of mineral and rock samples in preparation to learn more about the properties of minerals.
